FAQ

When are you going to make The Longest Journey Home?

We first teased a potential conclusion to TLJ protagonist April Ryan’s story in 2013, in connection with the Dreamfall Chapters Kickstarter. It’s a game I would still love to make…some day. But it’s complicated: the TLJ (and Dreamfall) license belongs to Funcom, and it’s up to them what they choose to do with it, and who to do it with. Hopefully, we can find a way to finish April Ryan’s (and Crow’s) story at some point in the future, but that decision is not up to me. Sorry.

I don’t want you to work on anything else until you’ve made The Longest Journey Home

I get this a lot, and I get it: many of you know me primarily, or only, from TLJ and Dreamfall, and you want to play another game in the series. That’s perfectly understandable. But the fact is that I’m currently working on two other games, I don’t control the future of the TLJ franchise, and I have other games and stories I want to work on. Telling me to get back to work on TLJH won’t make it happen, and if seeing me talk about other stuff I’m working on makes you unhappy, then you should probably just move on. Sorry.

I have a great idea for a game and I want to share it with you!

That’s awesome, and you should make that game! Unfortunately, I have a thousand ideas for games I want to make myself, the team I work with has another thousand ideas, and we’ll never have time to do them all. So while I’m sure your idea might be better than anything I can come up with, it won’t be for me. If you send me a script or design document, I usually delete it immediately without reading it, because I don’t have time and I don’t want to be accused of stealing anyone’s ideas. Sorry.

I want to collaborate with you on a game!

Collaborations are fun! If you have a specific pitch about a project that you think we can both benefit from: great! Just keep in mind that we can’t fund your project, we’re not looking for new ideas, and we’re quite busy. But if your project includes an actual collaboration — technically, creatively and financially — I’ll definitely take time to talk to you.
